“ We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. ”

I took a bit of a digital hiatus over the holidays, which if you know me, is un-thinkable. But for the first time in a long time, I didn’t feel like I needed the internet to better my connections with others. For the first time in a long time the whole family was also under one roof, and not just for one day but for a long period of time allowing us to really settle in with eachother. I also took a few moments to be with myself and explore my thoughts as we approached 2013. I’ve always known that when I remove everything and I really break down the must-haves in my life, connecting with others is the most critical component for me. That being said, 2013 is the year to really allow myself to delve into those relationships. I have spent previous years focusing on my education and career, unfortunately leading to less time spent with the ones I love. Although I will always be career driven, this year I will have more psychical time and emotional energy to develop new connections and nurture my established relationships. I wouldn’t call this a resolution or goal, but a focus and something that I am looking forward to exploring over the course of the near future. x
One of my favorite things about running is taking the time for self reflection and consideration for my environment. Taken in beautiful Ladner BC, where I grew up and hope to grow old one day x
